Kathmandu: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari paid tribute to the late leader Man Mohan Adhikari on the 25th anniversary of his passing, acknowledging his significant contributions to Nepal's left-democratic movement.
At an event organized by the Man Mohan Memorial Foundation, Bhandari lauded Adhikari as a tireless warrior for Nepal's political progress. She praised his integrity and leadership, highlighting his role as a respected figure in Nepali politics and society.
During the commemoration, Bhandari emphasized Adhikari's instrumental initiatives, such as the elderly allowance program, which set a precedent for social welfare in South Asia. She underscored the enduring impact of his policies, which continue to benefit senior citizens today.
Bhandari also highlighted Adhikari's dedication to grassroots development and his unwavering commitment to political activism, which shaped his remarkable legacy in Nepal's history.
To honor Adhikari's memory, Bhandari released a special souvenir detailing his life and achievements, reaffirming the importance of preserving his ideologies for future generations.
The event, chaired by UML senior Vice-Chair Ishwor Pokhrel, aimed to institutionalize Adhikari's legacy and promote his values within the political sphere. Party leaders, including Yubaraj Gyawali, Bishnu Paudel, Pradeep Gyawali, Bishnu Rimal, and Yogesh Bhattarai, joined in paying their respects to Adhikari.
Additionally, Bhandari bid farewell to members embarking on a nationwide tour organized by the Foundation, demonstrating ongoing efforts to honor Adhikari's legacy and support elderly citizens.
